Frequently Asked Questions
If you're question is not listed, please contact us and we will be happy to help
Q: What can I expect from the carers?
A: MacDonald Care Services develops an individual care plan for each of its clients which is regularly reviewed. We recognise that situations change, requirements alter and one of our key objectives is to ensure that each of our client’s expectations are fully met whatever the circumstances.
Q: How much will it cost?
A: As part of the care plan, MacDonald Care Services will spell out exactly what the cost of your care will be. We are flexible and calls can be as short as 30 minutes and can go right through to longer respite stays. We aim to keep the charge structure very simple so that there are no nasty surprises such as mileage or travel time add-ons and MacDonald Care Service is VAT exempt so you will not be charged VAT. Usually you will receive an invoice on a weekly or monthly basis.
Q: Can you help with medicines or dressings?
A: We do not give injections or change sterile dressings but we will prompt, assist or administer medication after appropriate staff training. We are not permitted to carry out tasks which are likely to cause risk to either the person we provide care to or to the MacDonald Care Services carer. All of this will be made clear at the planning stage.
Q: Can I trust MacDonald Care Services?
A: MacDonald Care Services is:
1. Registered with the Care Quality Commission which sets the standards by which we operate.
2. A Full member of the United Kingdom Home Care Association (UKHCA).
3. Covered by Public Liability insurance (£10million) with AXA Insurance UK plc.
4. Contracted to Social Services in Sussex and Surrey as a provider of homecare involving regular audits.
All of the staff at MacDonald Care Services are thoroughly vetted and trained before working with clients.
Q: What happens out of hours?
A: MacDonald Care Services office is open between 09:00 and 17:00 Monday to Friday and an out of hours contact number is always available.
Q: How can I find out more as your website doesn’t really cover my needs?
A: Please feel free to contact us, whatever your care needs may be. Each enquiry is handled in complete confidence.
Q: What happens next if I decide to ask MacDonald Care Services to provide care?
A: One of our Care Managers will make a site visit to meet with you and/or the person requiring care. At that time we will conduct a detailed needs analysis covering specific client care needs, risk assessments, nutritional assessments (as required) and we will provide you with detailed rates, agreement terms and how we work together into the future. It is also an opportunity to see who, from amongst our carer team, would best be suited to provide the care needed. Once all of this is completed we will draw up a Care Plan that becomes the blue print upon which we provide care. All of our care plans are regularly reviewed as we all know circumstances change all of the time The whole emphasis is on personal service designed to meet your individual needs.
